The Alumni and Friends Associationof the Medical University of Lublin has long served as a key patron of the University, implementing a multifaceted support strategy that encompasses both the technological future and the historical identity of the Alma Mater. A tangible impact on the institution’s research potential is evident through the funding of top-of-the-line equipment, thanks to which the Department of Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry acquired an advanced ion chromatograph, while the Department of Bromatology has been equipped with specialized components for an atomic absorption spectrometer, which directly translates into hundreds of publications and innovative research projects. We preserve our heritage by supporting unique monographs documenting the achievements of authorities such as Prof. Henryk Nerlo and Prof. Stanisław Piątkowski, and by compiling histories of domestic and international honorary doctorates awarded to our staff. This strengthens the international profile of Lublin medicine. The Society also ensures a fitting setting for the heart of the university—the Senate Hall—where funding a series of oil portraits of the Rectors expresses our commitment to generational continuity and respect for the leaders who have shaped the academic community over the decades.
Systematic support for the expansion of university infrastructure ensures that the student education process takes place under conditions meeting the highest global standards, and the organization actively supports young scholars, serving as a substantive pillar of the prestigious “Open TO: From Student to Conscious Graduate” project. This initiative, aimed at first-year students, enables them from the very beginning of their education to actively co-create key competencies essential for the contemporary medical job market, equipping future graduates with a sense of full professional agency and promoting a culture of knowledge sharing. Members of the Society actively participate in the teaching process through an advanced tutoring program led by certified academic instructors, which provides adaptive support to staff members starting their careers and serves to improve the skills of staff undergoing evaluation. As advisors to research clubs, members of the organization stimulate students’ research activity, building a lasting bridge between science and practice, while simultaneously playing a key role in integrating a multigenerational community during anniversary celebrations, such as the 75th -year anniversary of the Medical University and the International Alumni Reunion marking the 30th anniversary of education in English. These events clearly confirmed that alumni are the University’s most important ambassadors, representing its reputation and mission at the most prestigious medical centers around the world.
